'Leonardo da Vinci' Programme - Autoqualité

Project Autoqualité - Ensuring Total Quality in European Furniture Enterprises by Specially Training Workers in Auto-Quality
Leonardo da Vinci Programme

Since 2001 a new project called Ensuring Total Quality in European Furniture Enterprises by Specially Training Workers in Auto-quality has been developed within the framework offered by the 'Leonardo da Vinci' Programme, which was launched by the European Union in order to support educational and cultural projects. The project will end in 2006.

The idea of this project came as a consequence of the large experience acquired by some of the partners who had had an impresive background in participating in projects having quality improvement as their main subject. All these former projects have brought our partners to the conclusion that professional training in the quality area need a better approach as using tutors has not covered the special requirements of this domain. As a result, project initiators have proposed a self-perfecting system that will involve the whole staff of an enterprise in a permanent training and self-training process related to all quality aspects.

The basic idea in carrying out the above mentioned system is to strengthen cooperation between the organizations responsible for educational and professional training and their social and economical partners by:

The aim of this project is to strengthen the role of vocational training in the areas such as innovation, improving competitiveness and entrepreneurial spirit. It is not exclusively aimed to Romanian furniture industry, as the partners' intention is to get results that will be transferable to other industries both in the country and abroad.

The main aim of formation is to make operational a system based on self-control that will ensure 'total quality' of a business from raw materials supply to product trading. 'Auto-quality' is a new concept that supposes all people engaged in an activity will find simple solutions in order to stop waste and delays. Among the expected results we can count the following:

Results are published by means of a website www.labsmn.pub.ro/autoqualite and printed materials as well. A CD-ROM containing all results will also be carried out. APMR will be involved particularly in making the results of the project known among its membership by assistance for its members and also periodical information published in its Newsletters and 'MOBILA' magazine.

Participants in the project:

Education and professional training institutes

Professional associations Furniture manufacturing companies

The project was awarded the best project in the framework of 'Leonardo da Vinci' Programme in 2004 by the 'Leonardo da Vinci' Agency in France on the occasion of a conference organized in Bordeaux and aimed to highlight the contributions of different European projects at an increased transparency regarding the aquiring of specific professional abilities.
